Detox and Cleanse Basics

Easy Ways to Improve Your Health

To detox and cleanse is a natural body process. Every day, you breathe in air and breathe out carbon dioxide. You eat and drink, and your body takes in nutrients and eliminates the rest. If you catch a cold or the flu, your body fights off the infection and eventually you're back on your feet again. Sounds simple, right? Then why would you need to do anything more?

Because sometimes it just doesn't seem to work that well. Sometimes you just don't really bounce back after that last cold. Or maybe you're fairly healthy except for those constant headaches or aching joints. Maybe you're tired and exhausted for no apparent reason. Or else you have digestive problems that never seem to clear up. What happened? Why isn't your body working the way it used to? Why doesn't it just fix itself?

The Effect of Toxins

Generally, it can, but if any of the eliminative organs became overloaded, then poison and toxins could build up faster than the body could dispose of them, creating an overload of toxins in your body. When this happens, your body needs to detox and cleanse.

It's a bit like pouring flour through a funnel. As long as you pour fairly slow and steady, the flour will continue to flow through. But if you pour a lot of flour quickly, and continue adding more, not only will the funnel overflow, but it will stop up as well.

Methods of Cleansing and Detoxification

Luckily, there are many natural methods to detox and cleanse. Some may seem unusual, but are actually very simple such as dry skin brushing and oil pulling. Some are as pleasant as taking a bath. After all, hydrotherapy and detoxifying baths have been used for centuries to soothe the soul and cleanse the body.

Of course, nutrition is the first step for a natural healthy way to a better lifestyle. But no home detox or natural cleanse is complete without decreasing the amount of toxins in the body itself, either through cleansing diets and fasting or by eliminating the toxins already within through colon cleansing, body cleansing, enemas and coffee enemas.

When creating your own homemade body cleanse, it is important to start with small, comfortable steps. Something as simple as washing your fresh fruits and vegetables with a produce wash can decrease the amount of toxins you consume on a daily basis.

For a truly enjoyable and luxurious experience, the health benefits of massage are a wonderful addition to any wellness program.

Start small, and as you see improvements, you may wish to try more methods and maybe even a whole body cleanse. After all, the process of cleansing is a constant one, and can continue to improve your health in more ways than you could ever imagine.
